Ignoreeee

I haven't updated since Sunday so I thought I would post something. I follow a few tumblrs and whatevers here and there - I don't mean I have them on my dashboard or I load them up when I open up Firefox, but yeah.

I found out about this a few weeks ago - it's a Tumblr of I think one guy's DrawSomething drawings, and you can probably tell what it is from the Tumblr name:

Enjoy!

Dream about Middle School?

I had a dream today... I recall some of it. I recall remembering a girl I had in a class, in the dream her name was Mary or Mindy Ringwald. So in my dream I wanted to look her up on facebook but I didn't know her name, so I had then I "woke up" from that dream, and I went to my yearbooks to look for her, but little did I know that I was still dreaming.

So eventually I wake up and I try to recall the dream... yeah. Wouldn't it be weird if I actually did look at old yearbooks, trying to find her pic and her name, and then adding her on facebook with "I just had a dream about you" ? That would be so weird.

Anyway, I didn't look at any yearbooks yet, but I'm interested now. I might go do that later. She's kinda cute, but of course I haven't seen her for maybe 15 years. In my dream I mentioned "25 years" which is a little off. In any case, it's been 15 years - maybe she is a figment of my imagination too. Maybe she's married already and stuff. So it would be a weird facebook add nonetheless.

I had.. a dream... with zommbiiiess in it

I had a dream with zombies in it! Unfortunately, I'm kinda still tired (went to bed late, woke up early) so I don't really want to discuss it right now. But it involved running away from zombies, and Keith Carradine (from Criminal Minds and Missing) was in it, and he was somehow the bad guy, I wonder why. He wasn't a zombie, but we eventually ended on a cruise ship and all 3 rooms he rented out had something scary in them, whether it was a zombie locked in the bathroom, or Keith Carradine himself.

Future of Toothbrushes?

So I was brushing my teeth and I thought - what's next in toothbrush technology? Actually, not toothbrush technology, but the way we brush our teeth - is that it? Many years ago, people decided that we would pee and poop into this toilet thing, and it would flush away the waste into the sewers and what-not, so us regular folks don't have to deal with it. If we pooped, we would use toilet paper to wipe our butts to make them clean. Many years ago, people invented the toothbrush, and told us that we are to, every day, put toothpaste on our toothbrush and coat and wash each of our teeth with that, and that would keep our mouths clean.

Now, Japan has toilets that clean our butts, right? I'm not sure how widespread this is yet, if people are using the function but still cleaning their butts with paper or not. So I was wondering, if this is the end of bathroom technology, or is there more stuff coming? I know they're still developing new toothpastes, that whiten your teeth, freshens your breath, prevents gingivitis, and I think some of them even reverse gingivitis. And there are toothbrushes that are automatic, they rotate quickly and better than a human hand could do, and whatever else.

So I was wondering, if the future holds new ways to clean our teeth. Maybe we can have a dishwasher-like system? Maybe you take a capsule, put it in your mouth, then add water - and poof! it becomes a soapy-ish substance, you swoosh it through your teeth, all throughout your mouth - and then you rinse, and voila - your mouth is clean!

Or poof! Smart nano-technology traverses your mouth and cleans each individual tooth. Maybe in a few years we'll have this nano-technology, and then in a few more years make it more cost effective, but then it will still cost $8000 each time you want to clean your teeth that way, so I guess that's not very feasible... yet.

Maybe in the future you'll step into a booth, and then a combination of water technology, soap technology, and laser technology will give you the equivalent of a shower, shave, haircut, all at the same time; and yeah, it brushes your teeth if you want to. That would be nice, eh?

Then again, maybe in the future there's no need to ever leave the house and look pretty again. Or if you step outside, you'll die to radiation poisoning. That'd be interesting too.

Game Idea: Kill the human cub

I had a game idea the other day and then I forgot to jot it down, and now I remember about it so I'm going to jot it down! I thought about the idea as I was fighting the last boss of Kingdoms of Amalur, and it occurred to me that instead of waiting for my guy to level up and be super powerful, the boss should just find me when I was at level 1 and kil me off then.

So that's what the game idea is - you are a hero, and your power is like, infinite lives. So you start the game as normal, but eventually the final boss learns that you are destined to defeat him, so he will seek you out and try to destroy you. He finds you, and then of course you die, but then you are reborn. When you are reborn, you keep your items and your levels and all that, and the last boss will know that so he will try to find and kill you again.

So maybe your goal for a little bit is to level up so you can live longer, but eventually you might be strong enough and fast enough to outrun him, so you can like, get on the ship and travel to another island, so you're at a different part of the game.

In any case, I haven't fleshed out enough of anything yet at all, but that's the idea. It sounds stupid if you never progress to another part, and you spend your whole game in the inn, gaining some experience per life and dying again... no, that's not how it works.

So of course, there are triforce pieces that you require to defeat the last boss, and in normal games, each temple will have a boss in it, but with past experiences, that's not good enough to defeat you... so the last boss has to individually go to each dungeon and try to defeat you there.

Ooh! I got an idea. Maybe the game will have a picture-in-picture mode, where you can see the last boss trying to find you, and you can hide from him and stuff and whatever. Anyway, that's... just my idea for now. It would be cool if we went to ToJAM this year, but we missed the early-bird and by the time we missed that, 400+ people have already registered so we missed the boat. It was so crazy! So alas, we didn't go this year.

Crafting in Amalur

Do you know what's weird? I've played Amalur for 82 hours now, and not once have I crafted a weapon. I didn't know how it works, but today I tried it and it's fairly simple. I'm not a master blacksmither yet (gotta level up a few more times, or just respec my skills) but I crafted stuff today and it's interesting!

So now that I don't really need huge amounts of money anymore, instead of selling weapons, what I'm supposed to do is Salvage them so I get raw materials from them. I'm still not sure what does what, but today I made a bow!

So... bows aren't too strong in general, I just use them as a supplemental or long-range weapon. I own a ~150 damage bow, but instead I was using a 95 damage bow that poisons the enemy and has a 15% chance to lifesteal 15 life. So, once in every 6-7 hits, I'm expected to gain 15 life. My quiver holds 8 arrows and then it takes 5 seconds to recharge, so the lifesteal is fair, not too much.

I made a new bow now, and... I think it's better! Instead of 95 damage, it does 99 damage, so not really an improvement there; instead of poison damage, it does ice, so it has a chance to freeze or slow enemies, which is cool. And instead of chance to steal life, it has passive health regen, 2.5 health per second. So every 6 seconds, I will gain that 15 life like the other weapon, whether or not I'm using this weapon or not, as long as it's equipped.

So I think that's pretty cool. Time to find some chakrams, salvage them, and then craft my own chakrams, although the ones I have right now are pretty good - they do electric damage, and as well they have a 15% chance to steal 30 life. Chakrams "fire" faster than arrows so the lifesteal is pretty darn nice on it.

Anyway, that's it! I'm now going through and doing some sidequests which I haven't done before and start experimenting with crafting and using gems and whatnot. Fun fun.

Kingdoms of Amalur

Okay, so I finally beat Kingdoms of Amalur! After about 82 hours, I've reached level 37 and I've done 135 quests. Now I've beaten the last boss, and after the last boss I've been rescued and now I'm out and about walking around. I read that an extra dungeon was unlocked, so I guess I'll go do that soon. I'm trying to find my "rescuer", but reading through forums now, I don't think I'll ever find him/her - might be something for the sequel, or whatever.

Shucks - would be nice to talk to him/her. Anyway, game was fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll probably play another 2-5 hours, and then I'll start doing silly things, like pillage, or I'll respec all my points and try different moves and whatever. I hear I'm supposed to break the game by going pure Sagecraft/Blacksmith, and craft ridiculous gear - for example, at end game I had about 500 (or was it 800?) armor, and my weapons do between 100-200 points of damage. But I hear people have armor sets that grant them 3000+ armor, and they can kill most enemies in 2 hits, so I guess they can do 600+ points of damage per swing...

Hmm... I guess I should go try that sometime.

crying in movies

I cry in movies sometimes!

I notice it in two recent movies, and then in various different places too - it happens when "someone realizes something". I cried a little bit during one part of Columbiana and one part of The Avengers. I saw Columbiana in the theatres (the cheap ones) and then my dad was watching it again a few days ago, and both times I let out a few tears at the exact same part.

Spoilers ahead for Columbiana, and then The Avengers

In Columbiana, the movie starts out with the little girl, and then her parents are killed and she has to flee from her killers. She ends up at the Embassy, and with her vital information she ends up going to America, and then escaping custody, getting on a bus and travelling across a few states to end up at her uncle's house. When the uncle sees Columbiana for the first time, he "realizes" that her parents have been killed. They hug, Columbiana cries (as she hasn't seen family for a few weeks now), and then I cry a bit :(

In the Avengers, near the end, Ironman flies through the portal into space, and then loses all his power and is basically dying as he plummets back through the portal just before it closes. All his Avenger friends, mainly Thor and Captain America jokes about Ironman, doing his usual flashy close-call actions. As they continue watching him falling, they notice he's not moving and he's not slowing down. They come to the grim "realization" that something is wrong, and possibly this joky guy is actually in a lot of trouble. They scramble to help him, and I let out a little tear.

Ice Cream Cones

You know those ice cream cones, like Drumsticks? Do you know what my favourite part is? The bottom, where there's no ice cream, and it's just chocolate wrapped in a cone. It's about the bottom 10% of the ice cream cone, but since that is the smallest part it only makes up like, 4% of the entire thing.

So I was thinking - someone (me?) should invent a new icecream cone where that chocolate part is bigger! So maybe 20% of the height, or 12% of the cone is that pure chocolate part. I think the cone is lined with chocolate sometimes, but maybe that chocolate should be thicker too.

Similarly, I was eating ice cream the other day, some cherry flavor - so in a tub, they would cram about 90% ice cream and maybe 10% "toppings", like cherries, and then mix it all around. What if there was a new thing where instead of 90% cream and 10% toppings, it's more like 40% toppings and 60% cream? Sure, it would be more expensive - I think - or not?

So it would be like a new paradigm shift in desserts. Instead of having an ice cream cone with chocolate, you would have a chocolate cone with ice cream topping. Instead of having ice cream with cherries, you would have cherries with a touch of cream surrounding it. That sounds marvelous!!

I just saw the Avengers and it was awesome!

Oatmeal and Waflflfles

The other day I went to the grocery store and bought oatmeal and waffles, something we haven't bought in, maybe, 5 years. I dunno, maybe it hasn't been that long, but we used to eat a lot of instant (quaker) oatmeal, and a lot of eggo waffles. Now that I've bought them again, I'm re-enjoying some childhood favourites.

First, waffles - two waffles, open faced, maybe with butter or nutella, depending what I want to eat (nutella is delicious, but sometimes butter ontop of a cinammon waffle brings out the cinnammooon flavour so it's delicious too). Waffles are comparable to bread, but they are of course more delicious while being less filling.

Next, is two packs of Oatmeal - raisin&spice and peaches&cream - mixed together with boiling water, and then a touch of milk on top; so delicious. It's not very filling, but if you wake up late enough it should be enough to tide you over until lunch time. Also, much of the time that I get up early I don't have breakfast until a bit later anyway.

But then I remembered an old favourite of mine; rice krispies cereal, with peaches&cream oatmeal, and cold milk. It is SOOO good. This time I had vanilla rice krispies so that made it so much sweeter and very tasty. Sure brings back memories.

Anyway, I'm out of peaches&cream now, so right now I'm eating two packets of raisin&spice oatmeal. It's kinda annoying now, I think oatmeal has gone up in price, and since each box is about $3.79 and comes with 10 packets, and I use 2 packets each time I eat just oatmeal, I know that my meal costs about 80 cents, which sounds kinda high - but then again, it's just 80 cents, and it's delicious and awesome. So why not.

Texting Dream

I had a dream about texting... specifically, a bad app for texting. In this dream, I had to write a message to someone - like a word document, but every now and then I might make a mistake, like "select the entire message and delete it" kind of mistake. So I would hit Undo, but instead of going back to just before I deleted everything, it would pretty much take me back to before I started editing the document. And so when I hit Redo, it would just delete everything again.

So that was my dream. I mean, there were other parts, like ordering Mac and Cheese and weird pizza from a store, while Ambrose and Duy decided to eat out elsewhere instead, but that's not really important. The important thing is I was trying to send a message (to a girl) and I couldn't do it.

Rage Quit

So I just... well, I didn't rage quit LOL actually. But sometimes there are people who just get too angry about the game, and they like to belittle people at every change they get. I noticed it last time when Eric was over that he got angry everytime something bad happened, and I knew then and there that I didn't really enjoy playing LOL with him.

Fast forward a few months and it's now, and we just played a game and he just remarks that I'm bad, that I always was bad, and that I will always be bad. So yeah, I'm done with Eric. In the old days maybe I would throw a tantrum, but I don't know what to do now, so I've only done what's possible. My internet reach isn't very far.

Blocked on LOL, blocked on gmail/google+, removed from gmail contacts, unsubscribed on Youtube (yeah, big dent there), blocked him on Skype, and of course, blocked on Facebook. This may seem petty, but I'm all for improving the quality of my happiness. I play games for fun. I don't need someone inspecting my every fucking mistake.

It's going to be awkward if he ever comes over. Duy's table is far less adequate for Eric's laptop and he can't use this one.
